                   Feeling Like Heaven
In 2007

Ladies it’s time to bring on the heat. The heat of personal attention and self -pampering. Are you under the impression that pampering yourself is to be done only on special occasions? Well climb out from under that rock and inhale with new thought. Pampering should be a regular part of our life. Some time ago I came across a book entitled Sacred Pampering Principles by author Debrena Jackson Gandy . She calls pampering “inner grooming.” Let’s not confuse this idea with “outer grooming,” such as pedicures, manicures and trips to the beauty salon   No, today I’m speaking of nurturing and relaxing your mind, body and spirit. The type of pampering that serves as your personal calming ritual.  Allowing yourself time to connect to yourself on a deeper level. Turning up your inner-heat. The benefits of such time will reap wonders.

*You’ll see a reduction in stress.
* An enhanced confidence level
*A clearer insight on your goals
* A calmer and more relaxed outlook on life
and so much more.

Am I hearing you say? “I don’t have the time. .I don’t have the money.” Natural thoughts of course. And who wouldn’t agree, that both time and money are assets to help enjoy luxurious ways of pampering.  But there is still hope for the lady on a budget. Pumping up your inner-heat doesn’t have to be costly.

Begin with the free step of scheduling time perhaps once or twice a week, just like you do your doctor’s appointments, parent-teacher conferences, and other meetings. Then fill your home with relaxing scents. Plenty of stores sell aromatherapy candles. Place these in your own private spot at home or all through your house.  These steps can heat up your senses.

Make your bathtub your personal spa. Skirt that hasty shower for a change, and step down into a paradise of fragrance and soothing for both your body and senses. Chamomile and Lavender are two very popular relaxers. Dim the lights or turn them completely off while you soak. Who knows, this might even turn up the heat for some passion.

Now might also be the time to indulge in a good motivational book or if you’re spiritual, read a bible verse or two, are take some time for prayer. At any rate close your eyes, meditate and reflect on all that is good and wonderful in your life. Notice I said, the good and wonderful. We’re tuning into the positive flames that heat up your spirit.

Another suggestion is to give yourself a facial one a week. Steam those pores with Tea Tree oil, then apply a homemade mask made up of plain yogurt, honey and egg, or strawberries can be substituted for the honey. Let sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse your face with cool water and then pat your face dry. Your skin will thank you. When you look good on the outside, you feel good on the inside. Contentment becomes your heat from within that flushes your outside to a glow of satisfied.

Find a quiet place and take some time to write in your journal. Write a loved one or a long lost friend a letter. If you’ve been neglecting yourself physically, mentally, spiritually or financially, write you self a letter of apology. Say all the things you need to purge yourself of the neglect. Then hug yourself and feel your inner strength return. Feel the power of your own heat-the heat of self preservation.

During these scheduled pampering times. Let family know not to disturb you. And please turn off the TV and cell phones. Only allow soothing music to temp your ears. Some pampering today can keep the doctor away.

Enjoy the heat!

Mrs. Sarah Rachel Berry
